Graveyard attacked in Armagh

A Presbyterian graveyard outside Armagh has been desecrated by vandals. Grafitti was daubed over 14 headstones in the graveyard at Mall Presbyterian Church on the Rock Road. One of the headstones was dedicated to an army officer who fought in the Second World War. A granite grave surround was also smashed during the rampage. The Armagh District PSNI Commander has also condemned the vandalism at the graveyard. Superintendent Robert Moore said:"This is a disgusting attack of most reprehensible nature, it offends all moral standards and those who did it should be ashamed of themselves. "They not only showed a complete disregard for the sanctity of the cemetery but also the feelings of those who`s loved ones graves have been desecrated. "My thoughts are with the families concerned and I can assure them of our commitment to bring those responsible to justice. "To that end I would appeal to all right minded people who have any information about this incident or who may know who was involved to contact police in Armagh on 028 37 523311."
